Our Company History

On March 31, 1993, Jim Dawson, Tim Goetz, Rob Geiger and Jack O’Donoghue established a commercial real estate company founded on the principles of integrity, experience and personal service.  Two decades and fourteen additional employees later, the firm maintains these principles and has built one of the most recognized and respected commercial real estate practices in the Pittsburgh region.

Though Grant Street Associates had modest beginnings – borrowing office space from long-time client Urish, Popeck & Company – the firm quickly took off, securing approximately 85% of its clients from previous employment with The Galbreath Company, as well as picking up additional portfolios in the region.

Initially focused on office leasing in the downtown area, Grant Street Associates has grown into a truly full-service firm offering retail, industrial and investment sales services as well as office leasing throughout Western Pennsylvania.  In 2003, Grant Street Associates became a member of the Cushman & Wakefield Alliance – optimizing its current services and expanding its platform to include business consulting and corporate and valuation services.  Most recently, the firm added Healthcare Practice and Legal Sector Advisory specialists to its services through the Cushman & Wakefield platform.

With more than 90 combined years of experience among them, the principals of Grant Street Associates have surmounted the ebbs and flows of the commercial real estate industry and have worked diligently to stay in synch with the ever-changing field.

“It’s a tremendous feeling of accomplishment to know that you helped start the company from scratch and to see what it is today – very gratifying and rewarding.”

-Rob Geiger, Executive Vice President.

“There is even more competition from local and national firms, and we always have to be thinking of ways to improve our services. We have made a concerted effort to add professionals to our team who are specialists in different real estate sectors.”

-Tim Goetz, President

“There is no replacement for reputation, practices and client confidence. Servicing the client is most important.”

-Jack O’Donoghue, Executive Vice President
